Notes
GP9 #406 was a freight unit in its original paint scheme. Note in the larger view that the "wings" on the end don't connect as on the ends of #2555. This is commonly believed to be a paint shop mistake by EMD, as was #404. Unit #406 was retired in February of 1980, then sold to the Electro Motive Division of General Motors as trade-in on new GP 38-2's. Unit 406 was destroyed along with 407 in a derailment in Fairmont, ND on November 11, 1979. It is now scrapped.
