Notes
Notice that the logo on the fireman’s side of #804 is slanting the wrong way! Number 804 was one of the first diesels to be leased by the Soo Line versus buying them new from GE. #804 was the first U30C model to "model" the new Soo parallelogram logo when it was repainted in 1974. The unit was stored by late 1981 and the lease contract was bought out by the Soo Line in 1982 from the lessee, Massachusetts Life Insurance Co. The unit was officially retired in April 1984 and was then sold to the Electro Motive Division of General Motors in trade for 6600-series SD 40-2's. Finally, it was scrapped at Pielet Brothers Metals in LaGrange, IL.
